Greetings, thanks and apologies to all who continue to follow and read this site. The road to publishing things online, like hell, is paved with good intentions. Only getting one’s arse in gear and actually writing (and subsequently publishing) actually gets anything done though. And so here we are…
One of my less lame excuses for not writing here is that I am working, as consultant editor and also contributing writer, on a book due out in 2019. More news on that nearer the time.
I also write a monthly column for pub trade mag The Morning Advertiser and last year did a whole series of articles on cask ale for the same as well.
Here are some links to the articles that appear online, others appeared only in the print edition of the magazine. (There is a digital version too if you know where to look).
On the price of (cask) beer: https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2017/09/20/Cask-beer-What-price-is-right
Young people (and pubs) today: https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2017/11/09/What-has-put-young-people-off-going-to-the-pub
Liking a bit of peace and quiet: https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2017/10/10/Opinion-a-quiet-pint-and-a-lesson-from-the-past
But also loving a pub gig: https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2017/12/11/Opinion-Pub-music-food-of-love

(Apparently) raging against the puritans: https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2018/01/18/Opinion-Sophie-Atherton-rages-against-the-puritans
Hopefully, assuming you’ve not read them already, you’ll enjoy catching up with those articles in lieu of what I haven’t been writing on here.
It’s too late to make New Year’s Resolutions, and I don’t believe in them anyway, but I’ll try and post a bit more in 2018. Not least because from the emails I get, some of you seem to quite enjoy reading me.
Thought you’d given up beer! Hope you are well
As if! The very idea! All good with me thanks. Hope same with you.
